چکیده

Abstract A diffractive sail is a solar whose exposed surface covered by an advanced metamaterial film with engineered optical properties. This study examines the optimal performance of Sun-facing attitude in typical orbit-to-orbit heliocentric transfer. attitude, which can be passively maintained through suitable design shape, obtained when nominal plane perpendicular to Sun–spacecraft line. Unlike ideal reflective sail, generates large transverse thrust component that effectively exploited change orbital angular momentum. Using recent model, this determines control law and simulates minimum transfer times for set interplanetary mission scenarios. It also quantifies difference between sail. case presents results potential asteroid 16 Psyche.

Interplanetary Radiation and Internal Charging Environment Models for Solar Sails

A Solar Sail Radiation Environment (SSRE) model has been developed for defining charged particle environments over an energy range from 0.01 keV to 1 MeV for hydrogen ions, helium ions, and electrons. The SSRE model provides the free field charged particle environment required for characterizing energy deposition per unit mass, charge deposition, and dose rate dependent conductivity processes r...

Biomechanical Investigation of Empirical Optimal Trajectories Introduced for Snatch Weightlifting

The optimal barbell trajectory for snatch weightlifting has been achieved empirically by several researchers. They have studied the differences between the elite weightlifters’ movement patterns and suggested three optimal barbell trajectories (type A, B, and C). But they didn’t agree for introducing the best trajectory. One of the reasons is this idea that the selected criterion by researchers...

Thrust - Limited Optimal Three - Dimensional Spacecraft Trajectories

Several optimal three-dimensional orbital transfer problems are solved for thrust-limited spacecrafts using collocation and nonlinear programming techniques. The solutions for full nonlinear equations of motion are obtained where the integrals of the free Keplerian motion in three dimensions are utilized for coasting arcs. In order to limit the solution space, interior-point constraints are use...

Optimization of Interplanetary Trajectories for Impulsive and Continuous Asteroid Deflection

The chaotic dynamic of near earth objects and our limited knowledge on the asteroid population makes it impossible to predict the next impact of an asteroidwith our planet. The collision at Jupiter of the comet Shoemaker– Levy 9, the more recent discovery of the asteroid 99442 Apophis, and other similar events, have stimulated the discussion on our capabilities of deflecting an asteroid in coll...

An Algorithm for Generating Feasible Low Thrust Interplanetary Trajectories

Electric propulsion has offered the promise of more efficient transportation throughout the solar system. Capitalizing on EP’s promise requires a new set of tools that can rapidly conduct trade studies to help scientists and mission designers understand the advantages and costs of various EP systems. This paper presents a proof of concept program and the underlying algorithm that allow for the ...
